| Room/Space Pressure Monitoring |
| |
| |
| Positive and negative space pressurization is very important for the control of airborne pathogens and particulate contaminants. Positive space pressurization isolates people or processes in a space from exposure to contamination from outside sources. Negative pressurization contains the contamination to the controlled space thus protecting people or processes outside. In most instances these positive or negative conditions must be constantly maintained. |

| Space Pressure Monitors |
| |
PCI Space Pressure Monitors (SPM Series) are designed to monitor the pressure differential (positive or negative) between two rooms or spaces in a building and activate an alarm when the differential pressure deviates from the setpoint.
PCI SPM Series sense true pressure to establish the differential, unlike other room pressure monitors that use thermal means or hot wires to measure air velocity through a "calibrated" passageway between the controlled and the reference spaces. Such systems only imply that a pressure differential exists. PCI SPM Series use state-of-the-art industrial grade, high accuracy, ultra-low pressure sensing cells. This sensor technology assures exceptional accuracy and long-term stability. PCI SPM Series are ultra-sensitive, stable and reliable, and are capable of measuring and alarming to within 0.25% of full scale and displaying the pressure to 0.0001 inches of water column (0.0249 Pascal). Therefore, the SPM Series can meet the most stringent requirements of hospital areas such as patient isolation rooms and operating rooms, as well as research facility laboratories, pharmaceutical sterile fill enclosures, semiconductor fabrication facilities and cleanrooms.
Each SPM consists of a controlled space sensor, a reference space sensor, and a space pressure monitor panel. The space and reference pressure sensors are designed to be installed in standard single gang electrical boxes usually placed in the room walls. The monitor panel is placed in the wall of either room in a flush mount electrical box (supplied only with the microprocessor based units [SPM-3000 and 4000]; a triple gang double deep electrical box should be supplied by others for the analog based units [SPM-1000 and 2000]). Standard 0.25 inch control tubing is run within the wall from the sensors to the monitor panel.
For the microprocessor based units (SPM-3000 and 4000), device monitoring and configuration can be performed by a building management system through either a LonWorks® or BACnet®-MS/TP communication network and through a local IR communication port using a laptop or Palm Tungsten E2® (or equivalent).

| Remote Pressure Monitor |
| |
| PCI’s Remote Pressure Monitor (RPM) is designed for indicating the differential pressure value and alarm status from multiple Space Pressure Monitors (SPM). The RPM can also be used to make global and individual SPM configuration changes such as high and low alarm setpoints, alarm delay value, operating mode, engineering units, etc. The Guardian RPM communicates with the individual SPMs through a dedicated twisted pair connection using BACnet®-MS/TP communication protocol. The Guardian RPM is typically located at the nurse’s station for hospital applications or at the facility maintenance office for laboratory applications. Unique features include: |
| |
 |
Backlit eight line graphics display for indicating differential pressure, room identifier, engineering units, and alarm setpoint values. |
|
 |
Room pressure can be indicated in inch water column, Pascal, kiloPascal, or millimeter water column. |
|
 |
Individual room LED to indicate normal and alarm status |
|
